June Third Thursday - Sisters Seeking Wisdom with C.Jaye Mills

Last Thursday, June 16th, we met for our Third Thursday. C.Jaye Mills shared her testimony on how she came to be involved in the Peacemakers Ministry and how she seeks the Lord's wisdom in her life. It was a fun and open discussion on wisdom and Godly decisions: who has it, how we attain it, and how to seek God's council. We looked at a few examples in the Old Testament of some wrong decisions. C.Jaye concluded with a practical way to incorporate Godly wisdom and priorities in our everyday schedules. It was a wonderful & encouraging time with our fellow sisters! Enjoy the photos!

Join us next month, July 21st, for another fun and upLIFTing Third Thursday!

Let Go and Let God

A year ago this Thursday I had a biopsy to test a lump that I found it my right breast. This event in my life story changed my relationship with the Lord forever.

I had gone through a rough year leading up to this event and in my brokenness I feel in love with the Lord in a way I didn't know I could. I had a constant thirst for his Word that feed my soul in the richest way. I feasted daily, and was enthralled with Him. I was learning to live and Love in abundance as he had promised (John 10:10), but in the midst of this season of change I clung to worry. It was a thorn in my side I could not remove.

Then I found a lump, it went very quickly from the 1st appointment to a mammogram, and some very concerned Doctors wanted me back the next morning for biopsy of a very worrisome mass.

I walked in that morning to the Sally Job clinic with my husband, he had to stay in the waiting room, so alone with my fears, I sat in a gown, waiting, and like a broken record the Lord whispered (not audibly) to me. " I am the beginning and the end, the alpha and the Omega, it began with me, and it will end with me." You see, my fear was not for myself it was for my children, and the Lord knew they were the one thing I kept from him.

I started to cry as I realized his message to me was that my children were his. He is the beginning and end for me, and for my children. Sure it would be sad for them if I was not here, but they are his and he will take care of them. In that waiting room I felt free, free from the worry that bound me to my children on this earth, and ready for whatever happened on the otherside of those doors. Now I know the freedom of letting go and letting God. I can do my part but ultimately he is in control.

They did the biopsy with an ultrasound, and could not find the mass. They even compared with the films from the day before. It was just not there. They did the biopsy anyway and called me on memorial day to tell me it was normal. God needed to get a message to me and he used this situation to do it. Praise him, the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and end. It starts and end with the Lord, so don't sweat the stuff in between. Just let go, and let God.
-Revelation 22:13

Bending Down

I was struck with the effiminate nature of the phrase "bending down" today. No--more specific than that--it's a motherly phrase. We women who have small children have a special knowledge about bending down. We do it more than anyone else--to wipe noses, to tie shoes, to clean faces, to hug, to pick up, to put down, to kiss, to wipe away a tear. We bend down out of neccessity--you really have to get down there if you want to get all of the chocolate off your two-year old's face. We bend down out of convenience--it is so much easier to bend down to listen to your child's story than to try and decipher the words from on high. We also (and this is my favorite) bend down out of love--for the heart gets a thrill when, because we bent down, we meet them on their level and we see their joy and we can feel it in their sticky embrace that threatens to adhere like glue to our hearts and forever mar the smooth surface with texture and color (and maybe a little grape jelly, too). And I can't help thinking how the Lord has said he leads us with cords of human kindness. That He is like one who lifts a little child to the cheek and then bends down to feed us. This fact about the Lord's character is a secret present that waits to be opened by each mother. It's pretty wrapping being all we could see until we first lifted that tiny bundle to lay it sleeping in a crib--THEN and only then were we able to open the gift and see what was inside--an image of our King bending down...
